6 letter code

The 6-letter-code (also called the acronym) is an abbreviation made from the first 3 letters of the scientific name genus and species. In cases where 2 or more species would share the same code, "non-intuitive" acronyms were created, usually by modifying the last letter. These "non-intuitive" acronyms are listed in a table (available in the Michigan Floristic Quality Assessment), but here it is currently unavailable.
